*4 IITAP Supervisor Credits Available* 4 IITAP Ethics Credits Available*

This presentation will focus on the impact of sex addiction on children, both minors and adults, with particular attention paid to the intervention of disclosing or having conversations with children about the addiction. With very little research and protocols in place for the treatment of children impacted by sex addiction, this presentation will integrate family systems theory, research about the impact of substance and alcohol addiction on children, and current literature related to sex addiction. The intervention of a disclosure will be presented, which is rooted in the formal disclosure process of sex addiction, yet informed by systems theory and inventions for children impacted by substance and alcohol addictions. The intervention presented is diversely applicable and intended to be dynamic as a means to fit the varying structures and needs of families.

Objectives:
  1. After this presentation, participants will be able to identify two(2) different ways to conduct a disclosure to children of sex addicts.
  2. After this presentation, participants will be able to assess the appropriateness of a disclosure to children impacted by sex addiction.
  3. After this presentation, participants will be able to utilize two (2) different ways to support and addict and their partner through a conversation with children about sex addiction.
