Reintegrating Healthy Sexuality After Betrayal

Facilitated By: Drs. Bill and Ginger Bercaw

Date: Friday, July 17, 2020 PDT

*4 Supervisor Credits Available*

Drs. Bill and Ginger Bercaw address one of the most challenging issues confronting couples recovering from sexual betrayal: how to reintegrate healthy sexuality. The Bercaws first introduced Sexual Reintegration Therapy in 2007 as a treatment protocol for therapists who provide treatment to couples in sexual recovery. Since then, their book, The Couples’ Guide to Intimacy: How Sexual Reintegration Therapy can Help
Your Relationship Heal (2010)
, has become a staple in the practices of Certified Sex Addiction Therapists from coast to coast and around the world. The five-phase model builds on the work of Patrick Carnes, Pia Mellody and Kenneth Adams, as well as the Complex Partner Trauma Model.

Objectives:
After this presentation, participants will be able to:
  1. Understand SRT’s Criteria for Readiness by which couples are assessed before beginning treatment
  2.  Understand the overall goal of each of SRT’s five phases as well as understand design principles of specific exercises and how the exercises dual foci on emotional and sensual/sexual intimacy combine to create a higher form of relationship for the recovering couple
  3. Understand how the Bercaw’s Couples in Sexual Recovery TRUST model (CSR Trust) intersects with SRT and how it provides both an additional means of assessing SRT readiness and also an additional lens through which to conceptualize the couple’s cultivation of 3 different types of trust.
