                <div class="subtitle">An Introduction to Treating Compulsive and Problematic Sexual Behavior</div>

                <p>Over the course of this 4.5-day training, you will be introduced to the treatment of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors including, appropriate diagnostic criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD) as determined by the
                    World Health Organization, and differential diagnosis with other complex types of problematic sexual behaviors including paraphilias and offending behaviors. Appropriate discussion of ethical issues relating to scope of practice and
                    other legal and ethical issues are addressed. This course will provide you with practical training on peer reviewed and validated assessment measures for problematic sexual behavior including interpretation of the Sexual Dependency
                    Inventory (SDI 4.0), as well as utilizing other assessments. Additionally, treatment planning designed to break through denial and propel clients into recovery is a central focus of this training. Many tools for interventions and group
                    therapy are provided and discussed.</p>

                                            Identify three professional development goals and objectives for pursuing expertise in treating compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors.</li>
                                        <li>Classify differential diagnosis utilizing the ICD-11 diagnostic code and criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder as determined by the World Health Organization.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate evidence from current peer-reviewed literature about the theoretical models that contribute to the construct of sexual addiction, compulsion, hypersexual behavior disorder, impulse control disorder etc,
                                            and cite two clinical implications.</li>
                                        <li>Name and apply these theoretical models of addiction to the growing literature examining behavioral or process addictions, including sex, gambling, internet gaming, and food.</li>
                                        <li>Identify three tools for addressing the high prevalence of denial, distorted thinking and ambivalence in readiness to change characteristics of many clients early in treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Identify and apply six relevant workbook interventions and client performables aimed at breaking through client denial and increasing motivation for treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate the development and published research findings validating the Sexual Addiction Screening Test- Revised (SAST-R) as an effective screening tool.</li>
                                        <li>Utilize the SAST-R as a clinical screening tool to identify clients who may benefit from further assessment for sex addiction and compulsive behavior.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate into a treatment plan an understanding of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors as a cyclical system of thoughts, behaviors and emotions creating a positive feedback loop of escalating problematic
                                            behavior and consequences.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish differential diagnosis around sexually compulsive behavior, sex offending behavior, sexual harassment, and paraphilias, with a focus on not over diagnosing compulsive sexual behavior disorder and providing
                                            the right treatment for each of these problems.</li>
                                        <li>Link the theoretical and nosological concepts of addiction to their direct implications and application in therapy interventions with clients and design a treatment plan utilizing relevant tools.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish at least six competing explanatory models for clients presenting with problematic sexual behavior, including attachment theory, psychodynamic explanations, impulse control disorders, compulsive disorders,
                                            hypersexual behavior, moral incongruence and over-pathologizing of culturally stigmatized expressions of sexuality (same sex attraction, BDSM/fetish/kink, infidelity, etc.).</li>
                                        <li>Integrate various competing models of problematic behaviors using interpersonal neurobiology / affect regulation theory as a unified model accounting for neurochemical, mood regulatory and relational attachment
                                            components of addiction and the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions across the span of presenting typologies.</li>
                                        <li>Apply a thorough assessment by obtaining a client’s full relational and sexual history.</li>
                                        <li>Determine professional limitations and clinical support needed through contributing appropriate, authentic and relevant self-disclosure in a small group discussion around discomfort, personal bias, countertransference
                                            and other unique challenges that may arise in work with this population.</li>
                                        <li>Prepare, verbalize, and implement strategies for responding with unconditional positive regard and compassion to client exploration of unique, unfamiliar or unexpected sexual behavior or interests.</li>
                                        <li>Identify the theoretical architecture of seven “typologies” of compulsive and addictive behavior identified in a large-scale factor analysis of the Sexual Dependency Inventory items and corresponding data from the
                                            MMPI-2.
                                        </li>
                                        <li>Utilize at least four relevant psychological theories to hypothesize the nature of the links between sexually compulsive behaviors and commonly comorbid variables, including adverse childhood experiences, insecure
                                            attachment styles, difficulty regulating affect, and repeating patterns of relational and complex traumatic experiences.</li>
                                        <li>Design a specific plan for recommending and administering the Sexual Dependency Inventory to appropriate clients and apply procedures for explaining assessment results to clients and proper report writing, storage,
                                            authorized release and destruction of client assessment data.</li>
                                        <li>Verify the psychometric articles and the validity of the SDI as a valid assessment measure to use with individuals with problematic sexual behaviors.</li>
                                        <li>Name five advantages of incorporating 12 step recovery programs into clinical recommendations and identify clients who would benefit most.</li>
                                        <li>Define two key components of a first step inventory and identify its utility as a clinical intervention for clients with repeated unsuccessful attempts to limit or control their behavior despite significant negative
                                            life consequences.</li>
                                        <li>List and differentiate five sexuality-focused 12-step fellowships in the US and identify which fellowships are most prevalent in participant’s local community or where to go in order to find out (and name which
                                            programs are the most gay affirmative for use for gay clients).</li>
                                        <li>Identify four resources and referrals for guiding or assisting family members of addicts in seeking their own therapeutic support and trauma treatment when necessary.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate applications for cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions and other evidence-based treatments aimed at relapse prevention and supporting increased motivation for treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Apply the arousal template to relapse prevention work and integrate workbook interventions and strategies aimed at exploring the arousal template.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate twelve step recovery programs and community-based support groups into a comprehensive treatment plan promoting accountability and behavior change.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish and apply appropriate concepts reviewed for compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors to clients concerned by problematic pornography use, pornography addiction and other issues related to cybersex.</li>
                                        <li>Identify and apply the IITAP ethical guidelines for CSAT® scope of practice, including policy against reparative therapy and resolve ethical dilemmas in group discussions of case vignettes.</li>

                <p>Over the course of this 4.5-day training, you will be introduced to the treatment of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors including, appropriate diagnostic criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD) as determined by the
                    World Health Organization, and differential diagnosis with other complex types of problematic sexual behaviors including paraphilias and offending behaviors. Appropriate discussion of ethical issues relating to scope of practice and
                    other legal and ethical issues are addressed. This course will provide you with practical training on peer reviewed and validated assessment measures for problematic sexual behavior including interpretation of the Sexual Dependency
                    Inventory (SDI 4.0), as well as utilizing other assessments. Additionally, treatment planning designed to break through denial and propel clients into recovery is a central focus of this training. Many tools for interventions and group
                    therapy are provided and discussed.</p>

                                        <li>Classify differential diagnosis utilizing the ICD-11 diagnostic code and criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder as determined by the World Health Organization.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate evidence from current peer-reviewed literature about the theoretical models that contribute to the construct of sexual addiction, compulsion, hypersexual behavior disorder, impulse control disorder etc,
                                            and cite two clinical implications.</li>
                                        <li>Name and apply these theoretical models of addiction to the growing literature examining behavioral or process addictions, including sex, gambling, internet gaming, and food.</li>
                                        <li>Identify three tools for addressing the high prevalence of denial, distorted thinking and ambivalence in readiness to change characteristics of many clients early in treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Identify and apply six relevant workbook interventions and client performables aimed at breaking through client denial and increasing motivation for treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate the development and published research findings validating the Sexual Addiction Screening Test- Revised (SAST-R) as an effective screening tool.</li>
                                        <li>Utilize the SAST-R as a clinical screening tool to identify clients who may benefit from further assessment for sex addiction and compulsive behavior.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate into a treatment plan an understanding of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors as a cyclical system of thoughts, behaviors and emotions creating a positive feedback loop of escalating problematic
                                            behavior and consequences.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish differential diagnosis around sexually compulsive behavior, sex offending behavior, sexual harassment, and paraphilias, with a focus on not over diagnosing compulsive sexual behavior disorder and providing
                                            the right treatment for each of these problems.</li>
                                        <li>Link the theoretical and nosological concepts of addiction to their direct implications and application in therapy interventions with clients and design a treatment plan utilizing relevant tools.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish at least six competing explanatory models for clients presenting with problematic sexual behavior, including attachment theory, psychodynamic explanations, impulse control disorders, compulsive disorders,
                                            hypersexual behavior, moral incongruence and over-pathologizing of culturally stigmatized expressions of sexuality (same sex attraction, BDSM/fetish/kink, infidelity, etc.).</li>
                                        <li>Integrate various competing models of problematic behaviors using interpersonal neurobiology / affect regulation theory as a unified model accounting for neurochemical, mood regulatory and relational attachment
                                            components of addiction and the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions across the span of presenting typologies.</li>
                                        <li>Apply a thorough assessment by obtaining a client’s full relational and sexual history.</li>
                                        <li>Determine professional limitations and clinical support needed through contributing appropriate, authentic and relevant self-disclosure in a small group discussion around discomfort, personal bias, countertransference
                                            and other unique challenges that may arise in work with this population.</li>
                                        <li>Prepare, verbalize, and implement strategies for responding with unconditional positive regard and compassion to client exploration of unique, unfamiliar or unexpected sexual behavior or interests.</li>
                                        <li>Identify the theoretical architecture of seven “typologies” of compulsive and addictive behavior identified in a large-scale factor analysis of the Sexual Dependency Inventory items and corresponding data from the
                                            MMPI-2.
                                        </li>
                                        <li>Utilize at least four relevant psychological theories to hypothesize the nature of the links between sexually compulsive behaviors and commonly comorbid variables, including adverse childhood experiences, insecure
                                            attachment styles, difficulty regulating affect, and repeating patterns of relational and complex traumatic experiences.</li>
                                        <li>Design a specific plan for recommending and administering the Sexual Dependency Inventory to appropriate clients and apply procedures for explaining assessment results to clients and proper report writing, storage,
                                            authorized release and destruction of client assessment data.</li>
                                        <li>Verify the psychometric articles and the validity of the SDI as a valid assessment measure to use with individuals with problematic sexual behaviors.</li>
                                        <li>Name five advantages of incorporating 12 step recovery programs into clinical recommendations and identify clients who would benefit most.</li>
                                        <li>Define two key components of a first step inventory and identify its utility as a clinical intervention for clients with repeated unsuccessful attempts to limit or control their behavior despite significant negative
                                            life consequences.</li>
                                        <li>List and differentiate five sexuality-focused 12-step fellowships in the US and identify which fellowships are most prevalent in participant’s local community or where to go in order to find out (and name which
                                            programs are the most gay affirmative for use for gay clients).</li>
                                        <li>Identify four resources and referrals for guiding or assisting family members of addicts in seeking their own therapeutic support and trauma treatment when necessary.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate applications for cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions and other evidence-based treatments aimed at relapse prevention and supporting increased motivation for treatment.</li>

                <p>Over the course of this 4.5-day training, you will be introduced to the treatment of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors including, appropriate diagnostic criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD) as determined by the
                    World Health Organization, and differential diagnosis with other complex types of problematic sexual behaviors including paraphilias and offending behaviors. Appropriate discussion of ethical issues relating to scope of practice and
                    other legal and ethical issues are addressed. This course will provide you with practical training on peer reviewed and validated assessment measures for problematic sexual behavior including interpretation of the Sexual Dependency
                    Inventory (SDI 4.0), as well as utilizing other assessments. Additionally, treatment planning designed to break through denial and propel clients into recovery is a central focus of this training. Many tools for interventions and group
                    therapy are provided and discussed.</p>

                                            Identify three professional development goals and objectives for pursuing expertise in treating compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors.</li>
                                        <li>Classify differential diagnosis utilizing the ICD-11 diagnostic code and criteria for compulsive sexual behavior disorder as determined by the World Health Organization.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate evidence from current peer-reviewed literature about the theoretical models that contribute to the construct of sexual addiction, compulsion, hypersexual behavior disorder, impulse control disorder etc,
                                            and cite two clinical implications.</li>
                                        <li>Name and apply these theoretical models of addiction to the growing literature examining behavioral or process addictions, including sex, gambling, internet gaming, and food.</li>
                                        <li>Identify three tools for addressing the high prevalence of denial, distorted thinking and ambivalence in readiness to change characteristics of many clients early in treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Identify and apply six relevant workbook interventions and client performables aimed at breaking through client denial and increasing motivation for treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Evaluate the development and published research findings validating the Sexual Addiction Screening Test- Revised (SAST-R) as an effective screening tool.</li>
                                        <li>Utilize the SAST-R as a clinical screening tool to identify clients who may benefit from further assessment for sex addiction and compulsive behavior.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate into a treatment plan an understanding of compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors as a cyclical system of thoughts, behaviors and emotions creating a positive feedback loop of escalating problematic
                                            behavior and consequences.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish differential diagnosis around sexually compulsive behavior, sex offending behavior, sexual harassment, and paraphilias, with a focus on not over diagnosing compulsive sexual behavior disorder and providing
                                            the right treatment for each of these problems.</li>
                                        <li>Link the theoretical and nosological concepts of addiction to their direct implications and application in therapy interventions with clients and design a treatment plan utilizing relevant tools.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish at least six competing explanatory models for clients presenting with problematic sexual behavior, including attachment theory, psychodynamic explanations, impulse control disorders, compulsive disorders,
                                            hypersexual behavior, moral incongruence and over-pathologizing of culturally stigmatized expressions of sexuality (same sex attraction, BDSM/fetish/kink, infidelity, etc.).</li>
                                        <li>Integrate various competing models of problematic behaviors using interpersonal neurobiology / affect regulation theory as a unified model accounting for neurochemical, mood regulatory and relational attachment
                                            components of addiction and the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions across the span of presenting typologies.</li>
                                        <li>Apply a thorough assessment by obtaining a client’s full relational and sexual history.</li>
                                        <li>Determine professional limitations and clinical support needed through contributing appropriate, authentic and relevant self-disclosure in a small group discussion around discomfort, personal bias, countertransference
                                            and other unique challenges that may arise in work with this population.</li>
                                        <li>Prepare, verbalize, and implement strategies for responding with unconditional positive regard and compassion to client exploration of unique, unfamiliar or unexpected sexual behavior or interests.</li>
                                        <li>Identify the theoretical architecture of seven “typologies” of compulsive and addictive behavior identified in a large-scale factor analysis of the Sexual Dependency Inventory items and corresponding data from the
                                            MMPI-2.
                                        </li>
                                        <li>Utilize at least four relevant psychological theories to hypothesize the nature of the links between sexually compulsive behaviors and commonly comorbid variables, including adverse childhood experiences, insecure
                                            attachment styles, difficulty regulating affect, and repeating patterns of relational and complex traumatic experiences.</li>
                                        <li>Design a specific plan for recommending and administering the Sexual Dependency Inventory to appropriate clients and apply procedures for explaining assessment results to clients and proper report writing, storage,
                                            authorized release and destruction of client assessment data.</li>
                                        <li>Verify the psychometric articles and the validity of the SDI as a valid assessment measure to use with individuals with problematic sexual behaviors.</li>
                                        <li>Name five advantages of incorporating 12 step recovery programs into clinical recommendations and identify clients who would benefit most.</li>
                                        <li>Define two key components of a first step inventory and identify its utility as a clinical intervention for clients with repeated unsuccessful attempts to limit or control their behavior despite significant negative
                                            life consequences.</li>
                                        <li>List and differentiate five sexuality-focused 12-step fellowships in the US and identify which fellowships are most prevalent in participant’s local community or where to go in order to find out (and name which
                                            programs are the most gay affirmative for use for gay clients).</li>
                                        <li>Identify four resources and referrals for guiding or assisting family members of addicts in seeking their own therapeutic support and trauma treatment when necessary.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate applications for cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions and other evidence-based treatments aimed at relapse prevention and supporting increased motivation for treatment.</li>
                                        <li>Apply the arousal template to relapse prevention work and integrate workbook interventions and strategies aimed at exploring the arousal template.</li>
                                        <li>Integrate twelve step recovery programs and community-based support groups into a comprehensive treatment plan promoting accountability and behavior change.</li>
                                        <li>Distinguish and apply appropriate concepts reviewed for compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors to clients concerned by problematic pornography use, pornography addiction and other issues related to cybersex.</li>
                                        <li>Identify and apply the IITAP ethical guidelines for CSAT® scope of practice, including policy against reparative therapy and resolve ethical dilemmas in group discussions of case vignettes.</li>

                                        <p>All cancellation requests must be made in writing and sent to <a href="mailto:training@iitap.com" target="_blank">training@iitap.com</a>. The following options are available if a training registration needs to be
                                            cancelled: </p>
                                    </div>
                                    <ul>
                                        <li>Refund:&nbsp;For a full refund, a written cancellation notice must be received by IITAP no later than 30 days prior to the first day of the scheduled event. Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the
                                            first day of the scheduled event will be refunded less a $300 cancellation fee. Allow 6 weeks for refund.</li>
                                        <li>Credit:&nbsp;To receive a credit for the full registration fee, a written cancellation notice must be received by IITAP no later than 30 days prior to the first day of the scheduled event. Cancellations received
                                            less than 30 days prior to the first day of the scheduled event will be credited less a $300 cancellation fee. Credits expire 1 year from the date issued.</li>
                                        <li>Transfer:&nbsp;Registration fees may be transferred to another module training or workshop, if available. Transfer requests must be submitted in writing to IITAP prior to the first day of the scheduled event, and
                                            the training must be completed within 1 year of the original event. If the training is not completed within that timeframe, the registration fee will be forfeited, and it will be the participant’s responsibility
                                            to register for the next available training and pay the full registration fee.</li>
                                    </ul>

                                    <p class="alert alert-info"><strong>Getting Your Certificate -</strong>Course completion certificates for <strong> in-person </strong>trainings are provided to attendees at the conclusion of the training. Certificates for online trainings are
                                        uploaded to member IITAP accounts within two weeks of the conclusion of the training or emailed to non-members, if applicable.
                                    </p>
