In Module 4, participants will learn how to work from a relational, experiential, and emotionally-focused stance allowing us to form a solid attachment bond with our couple clients. This ground – seeded with the “7 channels of experience”
and fertile with possibility – allows us to accompany our couples as we help them transform their trauma (past and present) and move from “wronging to longing” in their relationship. As they access their Selves-at-best and their (vulnerably
expressed) desire to be deeply known by their partner, defenses become less “necessary” and anxiety lowers, allowing a recovery of their Core emotions and an expression of their hard-wired need to belong.

Participants will get another perspective on the first phase of couples’ treatment that follows the discovery of betrayal. During this phase, relational safety is at an all-time low with reactivity at an all-time high. Participants will gain a clear understanding
of the attachment-based dynamics that are unfolding and key treatment objectives during this phase.

Also in this module, participants will focus on repair of sexual injuries created within the relationship by the breaking of sexual agreements. The process of repair includes helping the betraying partner to articulate the dynamics driving their behavior
in a manner that facilitates understanding, empathy and being known by the betrayed partner. In addition, repair includes exploration and sharing of core emotional and sexual impacts for the betrayed partner in a manner that elicits
empathy and compassion from the betraying partner. This training will examine the specific issues that often surface for each individual partner around sexual re-integration after betrayal and how those issues can be worked through
                    in a positive manner.

In addition, intimate betrayal affects all populations and all demographics therein. This is a cultural competency module that will critically examine and challenge personal and societal assumptions about LGBTQ+ relational dynamics. Clinicians will be
empowered to increase conceptualization skills necessary for considering the multifaceted needs of sexual and gender diverse couples. While acknowledging the rich diversity within LGBTQ+ communities, this training will primarily focus
on lesbian and gay relationships to provide the depth of attention necessary for meaningful exploration of any couple type.

Finally, participants will continue with understanding how working through the grief of betrayal, clients will begin to experience post-traumatic growth. Participants will learn how to guide clients through personal and relational development
to find newness and vitality in a flourishing, new relationship with one another.
